"Freely ye have Received, Freely Give"

The Christian Science Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel, are, in a degree, the property of every faithful worker in Truth. They have a place in our hearts; much interest is felt in their welfare; and our hopes are many for their usefulness in irradiating to the world the truths of Christian Science.

An important responsibility rests therefore upon each one to do his part to enlarge and promote this usefulness. We cannot fold our hands and wait for the weekly or monthly appearing of these messengers of Truth, hungrily devouring all that they bring to us, and then wait again for the coming of the next issue; we must do our part to heal the sick, feed the famishing, and encourage the faint We must give of that which we have so freely received, for a treasure that is selfishly withheld, moulders and perishes; while given out, it flourishes and blesses anew the giver.

Possibly we have recognized this duty, and in obedience to its demand we may have sent an offering, only to experience disappointment, and even hurt, as week after week we have looked in vain for its appearing. But our editors, watchful for that which will bring to all the greatest good, may have reserved it for future use, or may even have found it unavailable.
