I think it was in the year 1896 that Christian Science was first presented to me. I was spending the winter with relatives in Memphis, Tenn., so as to have the best medical treatment, — my home being in a small town. I was treated in an infirmary for six or eight weeks, but was growing weaker and more despondent every day, and the medicine and other material remedies soon lost all effect.
It was at this time that a cousin who had been healed a short time before by Christian Science, came to visit my aunt, with whom I was staying. Her healing was to us marvelous, since we had known of her former condition. I asked her if she thought it was possible for me to be healed by Christian Science, and many other questions. She gave me some tracts, and I at once decided to take treatment. After this I had no desire to return to doctors or medicine. Chronic constipation, indigestion, severe headache, and other smaller troubles soon disappeared. One or two old chronic aliments did not yield at once, but I have improved slowly and surely ever since my first treatment.
During the seven years I have been working I have had many beautiful demonstrations of the power of God's love over sin and sickness.
