The Lectures

The Newman Record

Judge Ewing of Chicago, lectured on the subject of Christian Science Tuesday evening [July 8] to a large and appreciative audience. The people came to listen and learn, and they were not disappointed. They learned much; for there was much of Truth presented, and in such a reasonable and engaging manner, that to hear was to understand. His pleasant presentation of his subject disarmed criticism and impressed all with his honesty and love.

He was fittingly introduced by Mrs. W. D. Goldman, First Reader for the local church, under the auspices of which the lecture was given. The introduction was in part as follows:—

"Visiting Scientists, Neighbors, and Friends:—In behalf of First Church of Christ, Scientist, I bid you a hearty welcome. Your presence gives us pleasure, and we hope pleasure and profit may be yours from being here.
