The Lesson Sermons
I have just read the Sentinel with such a feeling of gratitude that it must find expression in a word of thanks.
For a long time the daily study of the Lesson Sermons has been such a present help in time of trouble, that I have been prompted to acknowledge the help I have received from this source. By the study of these lessons I have been able to meet many errors. I have often arisen in the middle of the night and demonstrated for myself and others the Truth revealed in these sermons. I have read good sermons before coming into Christian Science, but never read one that healed me of any trouble.
Not long ago we had a lesson on "Matter," and Monday morning as I took up my books to study, I thought, as I read it over, we have had such good subjects lately and so opposite of matter, and as I am trying to overcome matter, I believe I will just read it over this once and not take it up every day. Tuesday morning the thought came, If there had not been a need of this lesson it would not have been given. So I began to study, and the Truth soon began to lift the clouds of sense, and I saw the material creation as coming not from above, from God, but from dust and to dust it must return. As I realized the real creation the claims around me began to be destroyed. Was that not a proof we had found the right way of worship?
