A Correct View of Christian Science

The Commercial Advertiser

New York, April 15, 1902.

Editor of The Commercial Advertiser.

Sir:—May I be allowed to call attention in your esteemed columns to the purely fantastical picture of Christian Science teaching and practice drawn by a member of the bar before the Society of Medical Jurisprudence last night? Judging by the report in your issue of April 15, a little study of original sources and some familiarity with the actual results of Christian Science would have saved him from such curious errors. He states of Christian Science: "It is not my purpose to go into the question whether the Scriptures afford any basis for its theories." But this question is of supreme importance, and unless the member of the bar can explain how Jesus, his disciples, and the apostles of the early Christians healed the sick, he must not attempt to pass judgment upon the Christian Scientists who are trying to follow Christ's command to "heal the sick" as well as save the sinner.
