A testimony in a recent issue of the Sentinel has led me...
A testimony in a recent issue of the Sentinel has led me to see more plainly than ever that I have been making the same mistake that the writer did; namely, thinking it was no use for me to write a testimony as I had not yet overcome the error which led me, five years ago, to enquire into Christian Science. The trouble is blindness. My sight is still defective, though since studying Christian Science, having occasional treatment, and trying to put into practice what I understand, it has improved to the degree that whereas, when first hearing of Christian Science my sight was so bad I was only barely conscious of light, now I can see all things near to me, though as in a thick mist. I can distinguish colors and shapes of objects when I am fairly near them, and for this I am deeply grateful.
But what I now wish to express my gratitude for is something far higher which I have gained from Christian Science; i.e., an understanding of God and of life in Him which has gladdened and brightened that life to such an extent that for all the physical sight that could be given to me I would not give up my belief in, and my even small understanding of, the great truths of Christian Science. Through this understanding I have been able to overcome fear in many ways, and have learned to trust my Father-Mother God in a way I never did before.
The health of my five children has vastly improved, and we have had many small but good demonstrations of how Truth heals. I have now no doctors' or drug-store bills, but spend that money on Christian Science literature, and on what gives pleasure, not pain and discomfort.
