Proving Up
IN Christian Science, each of us perhaps finds some phase or feature that specially commends itself; something that is especially available to us in our individual experience.
At an early period in my life, a pious mother taught me to read and study the Scriptures, with the intent, on her part, that thus there might be obtained and maintained a preponderating influence on my mind that should eventually lead me to enter the Christian ministry.
But the best laid plans "gang aft agley," and I did not enter the ministry because I could not preach such a concept of God as was entertained by the Orthodox people of that day. The difference between my concept of God as gained from the Bible and that taught by the theological schools was radical and irreconcilable; yet I was not able to discover just the reason for it then, nor was I able to do it until I found the reason in Christian Science some two years since.
