Christian Science was first presented to me about fourteen years ago by a lady who talked with me and helped me out of a severe cold that was becoming chronic bronchial trouble, and which the doctors told me was affecting the lungs. I attended the meetings a few times, but was not able to grasp the first thing about it. I read Science and Health, but not with understanding. Being in material bondage obscured the spiritual, and I did not pay very much attention to it, in fact, I forgot that such a thing existed. About four years ago I was visiting a friend some few miles from my home, when Christian Science was again brought to my notice, and very forcibly too. An attack of heart trouble of many years' standing, seemingly growing worse, was instantly relieved by my friend. This led to many talks between us and my increasing interest and desire to know more of this Truth. At that time I did not suppose it would conflict with my religious views in the least.
I attended several Wednesday meetings, and then the Sunday service. I awakened to the consciousness of a something coming into my life.
Words fail to express how this thought grew upon me. I concluded that the love and peace shown to me through the teaching of Science and Health was indeed the peace that passeth all understanding. I am now a member of the Mother Church of Boston.
