Duty
THE articles in the Journal and Sentinel, written by the different Scientists at various times, seem to be lights shining at different points along our way to help us over some rough or slippery place and encourage us to plant our feet more firmly in Science. Looking beyond these seeming obstacles, we see a little farther on another beacon light illumining our thought and making our duty more radiant with Love.
Each of us is striving for more light, a higher and clearer understanding of Divine Science. Mrs. Eddy has pointed out the way. She says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," p. 401: "You command the situation if you understand that mortal existence is a state of selfdeception, and not the Truth of Being," and on page 248 we read, "In an age of sin and sensuality, hastening to a greater development of power, it is wise to consider whether it is the human mind or the divine Mind which is influencing you."
Amid the many conflicting evidences it is indeed no easy task to discern whether we are being guided by the right or the wrong thought. We can re-assure ourselves, when surrounded by the obstacles of doubt and fear, by steadfastly looking to the one Mind and holding on to the facts of Being—God and His all-ness.
