Healed Morally and Physically
Christian Science came to my notice through a demonstration of its healing efficacy. It was a case in which the physicians had stated that owing to the disease of the affected organ, an operation was the only thing that could effect a cure. Christian Science was recommended by one who had been healed by its means. Contrary to expectations of physicians and friends, relief came at once, and the law of God was once more proven supreme over the law of sin and death. But I did not heed its import.
For many months I drifted along recklessly and carelessly, devoting a large part of my time and earnings to a "good time." The glamour of this soon faded, and with a hungry heart I grasped at the opportunity to cast my net on the right side. After a period of thorough study and instruction, I realized that I was healed. I was cleansed of evil desires, bad habits, and wicked motives, and lifted to a higher plane of thought and action, with a deep desire to do and be good. I really wished to emulate the Master and obey his commands. My former condition can be best expressed in the words of Paul, "O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?" and later when I saw the Light, "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death."
The Christ-Truth as discerned by Moses and Isaiah is made clear and practical through Christian Science, as evidenced by the many marvelous works it accomplishes. To me there can be no higher proof of the Truth of Christian Science than the fact that it does heal disease most effectually, very often instantaneously, that it heals from sin, that it enters into the every-day life of its followers, instilling a desire to be Christlike.
