To the Editor of the Sun.

Sir:—I see by the Sun of a recent date that William A. Purrington, Esq., delivered an address in your city, in which he made the remark, among others, that Christian Scientists were not able to, or did not, furnish any proof of any cases of so-called organic diseases they had cured. If Mr. Purrington is still looking for facts I will gladly help him by giving him the names and addresses of persons who have been cured by Christian Science of cancer, consumption, neuromas, tumors (sarcomatous and tuberculated). I am an old physician of over twenty years' practice, and feel that I know a cancer from a boil, and am able to distinguish the difference between a case of consumption and a case of hysteria.

I myself was cured by Christian Science after suffering for twenty-two years, undergoing seven surgical operations, and at last being given up by the best surgeons in New York. In this city is a gentleman, prominent in insurance circles, who had a cancer on his face, who was operated on at the Roosevelt Hospital, and whose case was said to be incurable. He received Christian Science treatment and is now perfectly well, in fact, there is not even a scar on his face to show where the cancer was. A gentleman in a nearby town fell, striking his head on a stump in such a way as to injure a nerve centre. For years he suffered the most terrible pains in his face and head. He had the best medical and surgical treatments, but nothing that medical science could do helped him. He received Christian Science treatment and in a few weeks was cured, and has never had a return of the pain. I could fill a whole page of your valuable paper with cases I have personally known to be cured through Christian Science.
