Healed at the Church Services
I am so filled with gratitude that I want to give expression to my feelings in a few words that may help and encourage some dear one walking in the same path. Yesterday, Saturday, I suffered an attack of a trouble I had not experienced since coming into Christian Science, more than four years ago, although I have not forgotten that I was at that time in bondage three or four weeks. I struggled all day Saturday with this trouble, at times rising above it, but seemingly not strong enough to hold the ground for Truth. To-day, Sunday, at our church services I was perfectly freed, so that this afternoon I have been as calm and peaceful as a little child. My heart is filled with joy.
Twice before I have been healed at the services. This church, founded on the healing power of the Christ, is a blessing for which humanity cannot be grateful enough. Tri-weekly we may come to this "Pool" by the wayside, and drinking from this fountain of Love receive strength for the onward march.
Well do I remember in the old thought that a trouble like the one referred to would have kept me from the church services. But not so now, for in the new thought I have learned to expect the presence of the great Physician, whose healing power has been many times demonstrated at these services through the clear understanding of our impersonal preacher,—the Bible and the Christian Science text-book,—thus verifying the words of Isaiah: "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace."
