Is Death a Saviour?
Many people are taught that some glad day our Heavenly Father, in the holy purpose of His will, will send His messenger, Death, to claim our suffering friends; and if they are Christians they will be ushered into Heaven and be made free from all physical ailments.
What does this theory make of Death? Nothing less than a Saviour! Although many people entertain this view, yet there is nothing in the Bible that logically leads to such a conclusion.
If Death is a Saviour, then Jesus the Christ must have hindered the work of that Saviour when he destroyed Death and gave the sick and dying back to their friends. If it is good now for people to pass out of this life; if Death saves them and gives them happiness and rest and peace and a permanent home in Heaven, then it must have been the same good fortune in Jesus' time.
