Thankful for Many Blessings
I first heard of Christian Science about eight years ago while living on a homestead in Nebraska, and to enumerate the blessings my family and I have received in those eight years would fill volumes. My wife, who was suffering with nearly all the ills that flesh is heir to, was healed by reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
How little we realize what this mortal man is until Truth begins to strip off the disguise. I was an agnostic. I had no use for anything pertaining to religion. We went one day to visit my sister, who was suffering with Bright's disease. While there she spoke of Christian Science, and said she was taking Christian Science treatment from an aunt in Pennsylvania, and that she had just received a letter from her, and would like to have me read it. Never shall I forget the thrill I received on reading that letter. I read it over and over, and when I went home I took it with me; it seemed as though I could not bear to let it get out of my hands. From the time I read that letter I was filled with a desire to know something about Christian Science.
Upon the advice of my aunt, my sister decided to consult a Scientist nearer home. She sent us word when the Scientist would be at her house, and at the appointed time we were there. How I did love to hear that woman talk! It seemed to me I had been asleep all my life and had waked up in another world. As good fortune would have it, she came well supplied with all the smaller works of our Leader, and I bought one of each, and afterwards sent to her for Science and Health.
