A Comparison

In the editorial column of the Sentinel of December 7, under the title, "Honest Objections," we read an able argument on the price of our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," as compared with the price of other text-books, college books, law books, medical books, etc., and were shown how much more expensive they were, than the Christian Science literature; but to go still farther, let us compare the price of literature with the price of the books connected with theological schools, and their different translations of, or their commentaries on, the Bible.

I have recently procured catalogues of the different publications of the various theological schools, and can quote the prices of a few of their works directly from them.

The American Baptist Publication Society gives, "A People's Commentary" by George W. Clark, D.D., for $9.00, which includes the first eight books of the New Testament, also a commentary on any one of the books of the Bible for $1.25 each. The prices of all their books are at the same rate, which would mean an exorbitant price were we to buy them all. Now we will glance at the catalogue of prices of Methodist publications.
