Vaccination
Press-Knickerbocker
Some days ago, the Press-Knickerbocker-Express published the following :—
According to the Poughkeepsie Enterprise, a bright and promising boy, son of Morris Decker of Amity, Orange Country, is the latest vaccine victim in this state. The boy was vaccinated a month ago. He got along very well until Thursday of last week, when he complained of a stiff neck. Then he caught cold, was unable to open his jaws, and suffered terrible pain until he died. Up to date, the following children in this state have died from vaccine poisoning: Annie Ackels of Brewster, from lockjaw; John Burns of Geneva, from blood poisoning; Decker boy of Amity, Orange Country, presumably from lockjaw. The compulsory vaccination law should be stricken from the statute book.
In commenting upon this editorial, the Desert News of Salt Lake City says that the above statement should cause the utmost care to be taken in the selection of the vaccine virus and its application, and also that the patients should be carefully watched by responsible physicians until all danger is passed.
