A Thanksgiving Service

The Morning Herald

A Thanksgiving service was held by the Second Church of Christ, Scientist, Lyceum Parlors, last night at its regular week-day meeting. President McKinley's proclamation and appropriate selections from the Bible and the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker G. Eddy, were read, which, together with the hymns and prayer, made a harmonious and impressive service.

An interesting and characteristic feature of the latter part of the meeting was the impromptu speaking of some members of the congregation during the time allotted for that purpose. Some twenty persons, both ladies and gentlemen, spoke very earnestly of the great benefits they had derived from Christian Science, and how thankful they were that it had been brought to their attention. Several ladies spoke of having been healed of chronic illness of many years' one of them having been an invalid for twenty-five years, and all were now healed. One lady spoke very feelingly about her boy, who had been perfectly healed of hip-disease and was now able to attend school.

Among the cases mentioned by the others were the healing of astigmatism, general debility, nervous dyspepsia, incipient consumption, malarial fever, paralysis and neuralgia of the eyes, loss of speech through stammering.
