Help for the Aged
On my arrival home last year from Boston, where I had been to attend the Communion service, I was called to treat a lady whom the physicians had given up. They said she had a cancer or internal growth, and that she could not possibly live. When I went into the home the daughters said, "Surely, you do not think mother can live, she is almost eighty years old, and she must die some time. If you heal her, I will believe in Christian Science." I said this: "I know that the Truth is able to heal all diseases and restore the dying to life, and according to Jesus' teachings and Christian Science your mother can be a well, strong woman; for Jesus spoke the Truth when he said, 'Whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.' "
When I saw the lady she was suffering intensely, had no rest day or night. She had to be turned on a sheet, and every time they moved her she would cry out with pain.
The first week she did not improve much, there seemed to be a very strong opposing thought against the Truth.
