A Voice from the Prison Cell
"Divine Love always has met, and always will meet, every human need," was demonstrated to-day in the Nebraska State Prison. For a long time it has been the desire of myself and other prisoners who have become interested in Christian Science, to have Christian Science services held here on Sunday afternoons, but the chaplain, as well as the former warden, being opposed to it, it was impossible to have our wishes gratified.
On the first of August a change in wardens took place, and to-day, the new warden permitted eight Scientists from Lincoln to hold a Christian Science service, after the usual Sunday afternoon prayer-meeting. The thirty-five prisoners in attendance at the prayer-meeting were given the privilege of attending the Christian Science meeting or retiring if they so desired. Every one stayed for the service, and not less than six of those present were believers in the blessed Truth.
My heart overflows with gratitude to God, omnipotent Love, whose ways are so much higher than our ways, and who brought it about to have this great Truth revealed to the benighted souls in a place of this kind.
