Vain Conversation

Error finds no more convenient door open to our consciousness, than that of foolish conversation. Too often we spend time in vain gossip, thinking we are talking Christian Science, that should be given to searching the Scriptures and Science and Health, and to spiritual prayer.

When Christian Scientists get together socially they do not gossip about the weather, and the physical ailments of all the people in their neighborhood, but sometimes their talk is equally unprofitable. Overmuch is said about demonstrations, sometimes exhibited (metaphorically) like so many trophies. The better time, generally speaking, to recount demonstrations is in the Wednesday evening meetings, or when we feel that by telling of our experience, we can meet the needs of an inquirer in private.
