A Valuable Article

Concord Evening Monitor

The New England Magazine in its November issue presents a valuable article on "The Founder of Christian Science," by Henrietta H. Williams.

The writer, in glowing periods, charmingly tells the story of Mrs. Eddy's home and church life from her early childhood, amid the New Hampshire hills, until her return and present residence in Concord. The article is finely illustrated with twenty-five engravings, many of which have never before appeared in print. A speaking likeness of the great Leader of Christian Science kindly greets one from one of the pages. There is an excellent picture of Mrs. Eddy's childhood church, the Old North Church in this city, and also of the First Congregational Church in Tilton, of which she was a member for forty years. The strength of the movement which she leads is shown by fine views of the handsome church edifices in Boston, New York, Chicago, and Kansas City. Of special local interest are the illustrations of Pleasant View and other well-known points in Concord.

One must believe that the author writes from a close and conscientious study of every detail connected with her important subject, and her descriptions of the scenery and landscape of Concord and vicinity are faithfully and feelingly portrayed. Throughout the article one catches clear glimpses of the earnest, consecrated, unselfish woman, whose life has been and is devoted to the establishment of God's kingdom on earth. While the author in no way champions the cause of Christian Science she does present in fine and forceful language the beautiful life history of Concord's eminent citizen.
