The calling

He was called away from fishing,
and there would be no return
to the life he had been living,
for he had so much to learn.

Simon heard the Savior’s message,
and he saw the Savior’s touch—
saw the lame, the blind, the hungry
walk, and see, and have enough.

Did he question what he witnessed?
Was there something he could find
in this multitude of wonders
that would bless and save mankind?

And what of healings we have witnessed?
Do they speak to us today
and inspire us to follow
where the Christ, Truth, leads the way?

We must learn to hear the calling,
overcome our doubts and fears.
Learn to listen, learn to follow
through the days and months and years.

Hear the message, follow meekly—
there is nothing more to say.
Hear the message, follow meekly—
God is calling us today.
