Home break-in averted

Many years ago, when my daughter was small, we lived in the city a few blocks from our branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and next to a large municipal park. At times, when we’d cross the median to go to church, we would see used drug needles on the ground. Residents were warned to stay out of the park at night for safety reasons. It seemed we lived in a crime-ridden neighborhood, and I took appropriate precautions to keep my little family safe.

For several months during this time, I would wake up in the middle of the night. At first, I didn’t know why this was happening. Then I realized that God was waking me at a time when the world was quiet, and I could pray and listen to Him without the noise of the city or the demands of a toddler.

So I prayed. Many new insights about God and His creation came to me during those nights, and solutions to various problems occurred to me sweetly and effortlessly. I grew to cherish those hours in the dark spent with my Father-Mother God.
