I find myself returning to this deeply spiritual poem almost every time the redemptive awakening of blind Bartimaeus appears in the Christian Science Quarterly Bible Lesson. Without fail, the poem’s message moves my thought, impelling yet another element of that encumbering “cloak” of mortality to be cast off for a clearer view of man’s (my!) immortality here and now. What gratitude I feel to know Christ’s “redeeming presence” through the availability of inspired and inspiring writings such as this poem. Thank you to all involved.
