Our pastor’s healing and protecting message
This pastor conveys Christ, the divine message from God to man, which is always inspired and relevant to each of us.
It was a warm summer night, and my then ten-year-old daughter and I decided it would be fun to ride our bikes to our branch Church of Christ, Scientist, for its Wednesday evening testimony meeting.
We stopped in town beforehand to have dinner, and after eating, we headed to church. We paused at a major intersection, and when the pedestrian light showed that it was safe to cross, I started walking my bike across, with my daughter following close behind. As I looked back to check on her, I saw a woman driving a convertible turning left into the street we were crossing. The sun must have been in her eyes, obscuring her view, as she appeared to be turning right into us.
This was all happening very fast, but it seemed as though everything was in slow motion as I perceived that the car was about to hit us. I yelled, “Stop!” and the driver heard me. She slammed on her brakes, stopping the car, but not before she ran into my daughter, knocking her and her bike over.
