Thanks so much for the Sentinel on “Free from superstition,” April 30, 2012. This subject always uncovers subtle and hidden suggestions that matter affects matter and is empowered with law. Thinking more broadly on the editorial, “Breaking the cycle of bullies and victims,” brought the realization that bullies and victims are not only in schools and among children. Because bullies and victims are states of mind, they crop up in our work places, as well as churches and organizations. Then the thought came to me that bullies and victims are prohibited specifically in our Church Manual: “The members of this Church should daily watch and pray to be delivered from all evil, from prophesying, judging, condemning, counseling, influencing or being influenced erroneously” (p. 40).

We live in a modest-sized apartment. So I’m always looking for things I can let go of to make more space. Often, I’ll pick up a Sentinel or Christian Science Journal and think, “I’ll read this, enjoy the articles, then toss this into recycling. That will make a tiny bit more room.”
