There's something to it
It unites us as children of the one God. It’s central to many Christian denominations and said in churches, communities, and homes worldwide. It’s the Lord’s Prayer.
As we prepared this issue, and this welcome to the magazine, I thought it would be interesting to see how Jesus “introduced” this prayer. I found this in the Worldwide English version of the Bible:
“And when you talk to God, do not say words that mean nothing, over and over again. People who do not believe in God do that. They think their god will hear them because they say many words. Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him. So talk to your God like this: ‘Our Father . . .’ ” (Matthew 6:7–9).
