Healed of conjunctivitis

First published in the Spanish edition of The Herald of Christian Science, El Heraldo de la Ciencia Cristiana.

One day, at the beginning of the week, I woke up and could not open one of my eyes. It was red and swollen.

Since prayer has helped me many times, it was natural for me to turn to God in prayer. I began to pray, acknowledging that I am a spiritual and perfect idea of divine Mind, and that I reflect only its qualities, including health, well-being, harmony, perfection, and beauty too. I also listened to hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal, which I often do, because they help me to focus my thoughts on God’s harmonious creation and to shut out fearful thoughts of sickness, discomfort, and other problems.

As the eye only bothered me a little, I went to work. My friends started to give me their opinions and told me to go to the doctor. While listening to these comments, I mentally held on to God, affirming my identity as His reflection and denying the evidence of disease. I knew my friends’ intentions were good and that they worried about me.
