The world’s greatest power

Summer camp stories

One day at camp I had a really bad bloody nose. I was in a summer camp for Christian Scientists, where everyone is used to praying when there is a problem. My cabin counselor had shared with me the idea that as God’s children we are, “Perfect always, imperfect never.” I was thinking about that as I was walking to the bath house holding a paper tissue to my nose.

In Sunday School I had learned that God keeps you safe and perfect, because you are always in God’s kingdom. And I thought, “In God’s kingdom, are bloody noses allowed?” I said, “No!” There is no bad in God’s kingdom because God is the world’s greatest force, and that force is good. The world’s greatest power is God’s love for you, because Love takes over anything else that is around you.

Then I took the tissue off and my nose stopped bleeding. The rest of my time at camp I never had a bloody nose again.
