VICTORIES JUNIOR YEAR

MY junior year of high school has been brimming with new opportunities for spiritual growth. And despite facing challenges, I'm grateful to be learning that God is constant, " "the same yesterday, and to-day, and forever' " (Science and Health, p. 2). He doesn't change from one year to the next. God's wisdom and love are constantly being reflected by His children.

When school started last fall, I was immediately overwhelmed by my joint Advanced Placement US History/English class. At first, I didn't even think it was possible for me to get accepted into it, but the AP teachers thought that I was capable and should try their class. Even though I worked hard and sought help from the teachers after school each day, my grades were still poor. In history classes in the past, any difficulties I had were overcome quickly—I'd always been a good student. But all of a sudden I felt like this problem with my grades was too big to fix. I decided that I should call a Christian Science practitioner and have her pray along with me as I made efforts to face this issue. I ended up talking with the practitioner every night, which was very comforting.

During this time, I prayed with the description of Mind from Science and Health (see p. 591), and also Hymn 224 from the Christian Science Hymnal. Part of the second verse goes like this:
