THE PROMISE OF LIFE
Sentinel Radio's Don Houge spoke with Christian Science practitioner and teacher Michael Pabst. Here are excerpts from their conversation.
DON HOUGE: Our topic centers around a quote from Psalms in the Bible, "I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done" (118:17, New International Version). It seems to me that the message of the Bible is that God is Life. What does the Bible have to say about why one doesn't have to just give in to thoughts of death?
MICHAEL PABST: I think the central message of the Bible is that life is not animated physicality. Our educated scientific sense has been taught to believe that life is moving bodies, living bodies. But when you look at how a biologist would define life, it's not all that easy. Is it the ability to move? Is it procreation? It's a little tricky to define what human life really is.
