LIFE-AFFIRMING IDEAS
"Life is your best friend." That's a sentence from the Sentinel Radio interview with Michael Pabst that's featured in this week's cover section. It played a role in restoring health to someone who'd asked for Michael's help through prayer—someone who'd all but given up and was ready to die (see p. 14).
Despite the power behind that statement, it's not always congruent with popular opinion. Death, instead of life, is frequently portrayed as being a comfortable way out, even a very seductive proposition to give our consent to. And yet, the Apostle Paul characterized death as "an enemy" to be "destroyed" (see I Cor. 15:26).
This week our issue is anchored on the Bible verse "I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done" (Ps. 118:17, New International Version). Proclaiming what God has done for us can be just the breath of fresh air we need to sweep away grim thoughts, clearing the path for the healing Christ to break through.
