Be glad ...
for laughter every day; children on bicycles
or playing tag. Watching Orion climb
the winter sky; spring violets in greening woods
and the consistency of tides.
for ships that sail the seas and conquer storms;
great music that uplifts the heart; those who
take care of friends in need; people still
searching for the truth, knowing it does exist.
for unexpected moments like the sighting of a doe
with fawns crossing the road; prestige of elders in
their tribes; all prodigals returning home while
elder brothers learn what love can mean.
for writers in their solitary hours when prayer
and words redeem the silences while memory
renews the joy of years gone by and
friendships that endure.
for those who understand God's love for us
is proof that good above all else is real;
and thank our Father who has made it so.
