LOVE AND FORGIVENESS HEAL PAINFUL SKIN RASH

One morning, some years ago, I woke up aching all over. I began praying for myself and studying the Weekly Bible Lesson, as I do each morning. Then I went to work as usual. (My husband was away on business in another country.) However, I was not feeling my normal happy self, and over the next couple of days, a painful rash developed on my body—what appeared to be the beginning of shingles.

I rang a friend who is a Christian Science practitioner. I felt certain that in praying for physical healing, I also needed to heal resentment still simmering in my thought over a challenging episode at work that had occurred several months before. And I poured out the details of this discordant situation. Two dear coworkers of mine had been caught in what seemed to be unjust and somewhat ruthless corporate maneuvering that resulted in the dismissal of one and the abrupt exit of the other. Although my position wasn't directly impacted by the shake-up, I still felt "right in the thick of it." The practitioner replied calmly, "God knows nothing about that." She then said she would pray with me.

I realized that this was a wake-up call, and that through prayer and spiritual understanding, I needed to get completely beyond the turmoil in my thought. But how to do this?
