LETTERS

Much gratitude for the wonderful message that you are sharing in your publication.

I am traveling through East Africa, and stopped for a few days in a busy port city on Lake Victoria, in northwest Tanzania. The rest house that I chose was inexpensive but in a noisy location. One morning I awoke with the Muslim call to prayer, before the sunrise. I took out the August 29, 2005, issue about God's mercies (I'd selected issues that seemed to have a good message to take along on my travels).

As I was reading the articles, a disturbance started in the hallway. It sounded as if two women and one man were arguing. The dispute slowly began to become very loud and seemed to be headed for violence. At the same time, I was reading Donna Harrison Haynes's article, "The power of divine mercy." The article could not have been timelier. As I continued affirming the truths I was reading, one of the women was taken to another area. In a few more minutes, all was quiet.
