A Navy pilot tells about her job.

On WINGS and SECRET MISSIONS over the OCEAN

Have you ever thought about becoming a pilot? Tenille LaTourrette is a United States Navy lieutenant who flies a four-engine jet called an E–6. Her crew's mission is to talk to submarines. Lieutenant LaTourrette is both the mission commander and the aircraft commander. She's also the head pilot instructor in her squadron, teaching others how to fly the E–6. Here's what some kids wanted to know about her job:

What made you want to become a pilot?

I come from a family of pilots. My grandfather my father, and my uncle are all pilots. And my big brother is also a pilot. He flies fighter planes for the Air Force. My grandpa taught me how to fly when I was 16. But I've always been interested in being a pilot. In fact, my parents saved a piece paper from when I was in first grade. It said that I wanted to be a pilot because I like to fly.
