A letter from Missouri, USA

I WANT TO TELL YOU about myself. I have tan skin and black hair. I'm good with little kids—like my best friend's brother, Michael, who is four. I received a "Quality Award" from the camp I was attending this summer. It says, "You express enthusiasm in all of your activities, and endless energy that comes from a strong reliance on God." I'm happy all the time. My mom loves my smile—it makes her laugh.

My mom and dad adopted me. Adoption sometimes means your birth mother might not be the best one to be your parent. So you first get to have a foster mother, and then she takes care of you, and sometimes you get to be adopted. My mom says that God wanted her and my dad to adopt me. And I'm glad they did! All parents love their children, but some can't take care of them. Adoptive parents might make it so that you can go to a better school. They give you the proper care you need. And I've also learned in Christian Science that God is always our real Father and Mother.

I have four brothers and sisters—my big sister, Dawn, and her husband, Tony (who's like a brother to me), and my little brother, Nicholas, and my little sister, Tiana. They all live in California, which is where I used to live before I moved to Missouri.
