Gathering news stories with a spiritual perspective week by week, we wondered what kinds of material the Sentinel of 100 years ago carried. Here is a glimpse into some of the Items of Interest and other excerpts from the Sentinel at the start of the 20th century.
The abiding qualities are those of the heart. A man may have eloquence, learning, extraordinary insight and foresight, splendid attainment in every line of thought and knowledge, but if he lacks love for God and his fellow-men his life will be imperfect and his power for good limited. Love is not only the great thing, but the greatest power in the world. Pursue after love.
