Severely cut foot healed
Although I have had many quick healings of physical and emotional problems as a result of applying spiritual truth to various situations, there is one instance of healing that took a couple of years to complete.
One evening as I stepped onto the ivy in our front yard, I felt a sharp pain and looked down to see that my foot—clad only in an open sandal—had been badly cut by a broken bottle buried deep in the greenery. The cut was deep, ragged, and bleeding profusely. This was the first time since beginning my study of Christian Science that I had been confronted with an injury so severe that in the normal course of events it would have received stitches, an anti-tetanus injection, and probably a preventive antibiotic.
My reason for choosing to rely on God for healing was based on the fact that I had discovered that in addition to the physical healing that I expected would take place, this path would invariably lead to greater spiritual growth — to a deeper understanding of the nature of God, and of my own nature as part of His creation. And this was a process I didn't want to miss out on.
