Who knows what this guy is dealing with?

TODAY AN ONCOMING CAR cut in front of me, forcing me to stop while he made a left turn. I was annoyed that my right-of-way had been trespassed on, that someone would place his interests ahead of mine. But as the car turned in front of me I looked at the driver's face, my heart actually went out to him. I thought, "Who knows what this guy is dealing with? Maybe he's had a rough day. Maybe he's had a rough life." I paused and let him make his turn.

I believe this was a moment of forgiveness. I just released the whole thing to God's wisdom and went on my way.

Thinking about it later, I realized that a patient, forgiving attitude is an asset in any situation. It increases harmony and helps keep anger from escalating into unproductive reaction.
