We prayed in the emergency room

MY HUSBAND AND I received a call from a hospital one Sunday afternoon, saying that our 17-year-old daughter, Katie, had been in a motorcycle accident and was in the emergency room at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City. As we drove the 20 miles to the hospital, we prayed to see God's tender care for this child of His, and to see that since God was ever present, His love was already there with her, even present, His love was already there with her, even as we hurried to her side.

When we arrived at the check-in desk and gave our daughter's name, the nurse chuckled and said, "Oh, yes, we know who your daughter is."

Walking into the emergency room, we could hear Katie's voice across the room. She was laughing and insisting that they let her go. There were five doctors standing around her, and her leg was elevated. The injury was severe, and my husband, Alan, and I both needed a moment to pull ourselves together when we saw it.
