Prayer heals painful hip condition

About two years ago, I was having difficulty walking because of pain in one hip. Soon I felt pain in both hips to the extent that as I went shopping with my daughter, I needed to sit and rest while she continued. I had been hearing from time to time of various friends and acquaintances who had undergone surgery for hip replacement. I turned to Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy and found: "The Christian Scientist, understanding scientifically that all is Mind, commences with mental causation, the truth of being, to destroy the error. This corrective is an alterative, reaching to every part of the human system. According to Scripture, it searches "the joints and marrow,' and it restores the harmony of man" (p. 423). And farther along on the same page, Mary Baker Eddy says, "Bones have only the substance of thought which forms them." I kept these statements uppermost in my thought, not ever contemplating surgery, and no one but my daughter was aware of the difficulty. I don't know when the healing came, but one day I realised I was walking perfectly, without a vestige of pain, and there has been no recurrence of the problem.

Last year I fell down a stone staircase, and as I felt myself falling, I only had time to say to myself, "God is right here." I was helped to my feet unhurt except for a small graze on one ankle. A friend, a trained medical nurse, who was with me, said that I was fortunate that I didn't break a hip. I felt that was confirmation of my earlier healing.
