LIFE AMONG OTHER CULTURES

In the past several years, I have had many wonderful opportunities to experience life among different cultures. From living in Slovakia, Bulgaria, and on the Navajo reservation in the United States to living with my Turkish-Bulgarian hasband, I have experienced growth on many levels.

Every culture seems to have beliefs about what sort of conditions cause certain ailments and how to cure the ailments. For example, many Bulgarians believe that pregnant woman should eat lots of sugar products, such as chocolate, and they believe this has helped them.

My first reaction was curiosity about which beliefs were more accurate, those of my culture or of the Bulgarians. But then I realized that one material belief wasn't more true than the other, no matter which culture it was from. No limitation is true about me or any of God's children. I was learning that people experience what is in their thought, that it's purely mental condition. It has become easier for me to understand that I do not have to accept the belief that man is dependent on matter for health.
