Keep it Polished

My daughter has a collection of copper in her log cabin. It includes a copper fireplace and various pieces hanging from the ceiling beams. Most of the pieces were very dark and tarnished, and we decided to polish them.

We started with a little antique horn and were startled at the beautiful glow it acquired. It was actually trimmed in shining brass, which had been completely hidden by the tarnish. It took a lot of rubbing and careful polishing. The results were amazing. It gave us the inspiration to keep on working, and, in turn, it taught me a useful lesson I would later draw upon.

Our family had had a troubling situation with a neighbor who we felt was delaying the sale of a piece of property that we needed to sell. His behavior struck me as selfish and irresponsible. We had tried to reason with him about moving materials from our lot line and finishing up a repair project that had become unsightly. He ignored us. It was not the first time we had been at odds. The matter needed to be resolved. Experience had shown me that prayer was the answer.
