Prayer heals injured hiker

Among the many pristine lakes of the Cascade Range is one near my home that is a haven for outdoor people, hikers, and fishers. After I retired, hiking intrigued me most, and I set off up the trail to the lake, savoring the promise of beauty and solitude. The trail was narrow and rocky, and as we approached the lake, my partner went on ahead, soon passing me again on his way back down the trail. Darkness began to close in, and my visit to the lake was short.

I was quickly free to go about all my normal activities.

I started back down, but as I clambered across some rocks, I fell and found myself unable to walk. Well, I knew that even if I couldn't walk, I could pray. So I did. Soon afterward, a gentleman and his wife came by with a cellular telephone. They called the rescue people, who arrived quickly and took me on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance. I was praying to know my inseparability from God, good. Upon arriving at the ambulance, I asked to be taken to my car instead of to the first aid station. There was no objection to my request, and I was able to get into my car and drive home. My wife, who had been contacted, happily welcomed me.

I called a Christian Science practitioner for treatment through prayer, as I knew that this was the help I needed to destroy error by denying its reality and acknowledging the allness of God. I was grateful for what I saw as my salvation, and I was quickly free to go about all my normal activities.

With this proof of God's care, I am now anticipating more years to be added to forty-eight years of happy marriage.
