"Teachers Definitely Need greater material resources ... to perform their tasks. Yet they need something else as well. They need strength of heart and spirit as well as mind. They need some spiritual resource beyond their own training and experience to cope with our children," declared Andrew Young, chairman of the Drum Major Institute, last summer. He was urging people to devote time specifically to pray for school and to teach their children to pray. He went on:

"Our children need this spiritual resource even more. They need it to survive the ... constant attacks on their sense of worth, their fragile self-images, that which makes them different.' ...

"... How do they find themselves? How do they discover their reason for being? From whom do they get help to answer these ... questions? 'Our help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth,' says the Psalmist. Children need strength of spirit to slay these emotional dragons. Simply stated, they need the strength that comes from prayer."
