Epilepsy healed

Our son began to have seizures when he was a toddler. I responded to these episodes with prayer, both my own prayers and those of an experienced Christian Science healer. I yearned to know the full spiritual truth about our son in order to free him from this distressing condition. Then, when he was six years old, he had a seizure in a department store. Because of the liability regulations of the store's parent corporation, the manager insisted that the boy be taken to a doctor in the complex. This doctor sent us to a group of specialists for further testing, where our son was diagnosed with a severe form of epilepsy that could not be cured. It was recommended that he no longer attend school and that he take medication three times a day. The prognosis was that our son would never lead a normal life.

I was overwhelmed and dismayed at the limitations placed on our son. I asked myself, Could this condition be healed with prayer? I remembered other healings I'd witnessed, of broken bones perfectly set without medical treatment, of polio and children's diseases overcome quickly through the application of scientific spiritual healing. Thinking of these instances gave me hope. I humbly asked God to show me what I needed to do.

Turning to the Bible, I read again the accounts of the healing work of Christ Jesus, especially the healing of the epileptic boy (see Mark 9:14–29). I turned to Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures to learn more about how to heal. I read: "Sickness, as well as sin, is an error that Christ, Truth, alone can destroy.
