They thought I was crazy...

When I entered high school, I chose a course that prepares students to become elementary school teachers. When my friends heard that I wanted to be a teacher, they thought it was a crazy thing to do. Teachers earn small salaries and have little prestige, they said.

I believe, though, that we can't make important decisions based on just material values like money and prestige. Doing some practice teaching, I've learned that one can find rewards in teaching that can't be measured in terms of money. Seeing the happiness of a child at the moment that he or she first writes his or her name is a reward that has no measure.

The Bible has taught me to value spiritual good. And I'm grateful.:)
