World War II refugee finds help and health
When I first heard of Christian Science as a young teenager, I needed it very badly. My life seemed almost beyond hope. We were refugees after World War II and lived in great poverty. I had lost several members of my family, and I was often ill and unable to go to school. Doctors discovered that I had been born with a heart problem; I often suffered from asthma; and I had lots of other physical problems.
The first time I heard of Christian Science, I was too prejudiced to accept it and ridiculed it instead. Young people in my country were not very religiously minded, and I had never before heard of such a thing as a Sunday School. But the more I heard about this religion through a family member, the more curious I became. One Sunday I decided to find out for myself. During that first Sunday School session, I was so impressed by the love and intelligence expressed there that all my prejudice simply left. I made up my mind never to miss a single Sunday. From then on, I learned more and more that God was my Father and Mother and my best Physician. My life began to change for the better.
Not only did my health improve, but through my own studies and the help of practitioners, I learned that my intelligence comes from divine Mind, God, which is not limited. I overcame my fear of examinations and was able to attend college and became a teacher.
