Effective health care for children

"Like my great-great-grandmother, we have discovered that the best health care available is spiritual."

A TEEN WAS DYING of tuberculosis and of another mysterious disease that had been responsible for the death of all the young women in her paternal grandfather's family. She was given two weeks to live. Her mother had exhausted the skills of the physicians. What could she possibly do now?

Desperate to save her child, this mother, hearing of Christian Science, sent for Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy and read it. Her daughter was healed of both diseases. This young woman went on to be a rancher's wife and raise six children. In addition, none of her sisters or daughters fell victim to either disease.

Who would blame this woman—my great-great-grandmother—for trying Christian Science when all else had failed to help her daughter, or for continuing to use this method of healing that had proved effective in curing that which medicine couldn't?
